Birmingham ranks 94 out of 100 for job growth

According to the Birmingham Business Journal article, the metro Birmingham ranked 94 out of 100 major cities for job growth.

Birmingham ranked in the bottom 10 for private sector job growth over the past year, according to analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The Birmingham metropolitan area lost 15,600 jobs between April 2009 and April 2010, according to data compiled by American City Business Journals, parent of the Birmingham Business Journal.

That 3.75 percent drop landed the city in the 94th slot for job growth last year, out of the nation’s largest 100 metro markets.
